Ensure you follow all local building codes in your area. Prior to constructing your deck, you need to contact your local building code office to ensure you meet all applicable requirements such as:
- Live and static load
- Post footer requirements
- Footer depth below ground
- Beam and post sizes

Before you sign up to use the Deck Designer, make sure you meet these system requirements:
- 800x600 resolution, minimum 16 bit color
- Windows 95/98/2000/XP/ME/NT 4.0
- Java Update 1.5
- Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, or Netscape 4.72 or higher
